🎪 How I Filled My Mastermind
A logistical nightmare, getting customers, creating a program & presentation and more drama...
August 20th, 2024, I decided to host a mastermind event teaching people how to make their first $5K aside from their jobs.
I promoted it on my IG story and set a deadline—Saturday, September 21st. 32 days after the idea came to mind. This was one of the most stressful months of my entrepreneurial career…
đź«Ą Chaos

I gave myself a month to fix an event room, fill the seats, and create a program & presentation lasting 4 hours.
Problem: I had zero experience.
Having never booked an event space, I searched the internet for nearby meeting rooms. Even though almost none were available on Saturdays, I managed to chat with some buildings and hotels with availability.
I booked a meeting with a manager and when I came to the sight and introduced my idea, I did not get taken seriously.
They gave me a tour and I said the room was perfect.
But I sensed something was off…
The manager told me that the meeting room I wanted could probably not be given to me for some reason and that she’d take my number and call me once she knew if I could get it or not.
…of course, I did not get it. She just didn’t want to say it to my face.
The first, and most stressful roadblock I faced was getting a space to host my mastermind. Eventually, though, I did get one.
After that, came creating the presentation & program—it is quite difficult to have people be in a room for 4 hours, learning new things. So I had to ensure there was food, drinks, and enough breaks to relax their minds.
But now, the most difficult one—filling the spots for this mastermind and getting people to come to this location…
🎪 How I Filled My Mastermind

The first thing I did, was contact the people I knew were interested in what I’d talk about and lived nearby.
Here’s what I said 👇🏽
Yo (name), I’m going to host a mastermind about starting and scaling your own business aside from your full-time occupation, thought it would be something you’d be interested in so I’m reaching out to tell you first.
I messaged them through WhatsApp and Instagram, after I posted some IG stories, promoting the event and some of my accomplishments with a simple call to action (Responding with “yo” to learn more).
My efforts were not enough to fill all the seats though.
I asked some of the guys who were coming if they had any friends who’d also like to come.
Some more people came through that and I had one more spot available…
As I was speaking with my mentor, he mentioned he got a new client that’s from the same country I hosted the mastermind in, and how eager he is to learn. A real go-getter.
I respect that mindset and told him to set up a 3-way introduction.
He made a group chat with himself, his new client, and myself, and introduced us to each other.
This way, there was already a form of trust, since I got introduced through an acquaintance. Long story short—he pulled up, filling the final spot in this mastermind.
🔑 Key Take Away
If you’re going to start anything new—whether it’s a product launch or new business, always reach out to the people who you know are already interested in what you’re gonna be doing
That’s what I did to fill over half of my mastermind spots, I reached out to those I knew. Needed to fill more sports? I asked them to reach out to people they knew.

Me filling the mastermind didn’t just happen.
I had to take massive action, overcome obstacles, and make it work.
đź‘ž Action Step
