My phone is booooringggg 📱
How to prevent yourself from doom-scrolling in 2025
It’s been three days since I made this slight tweak to my phone’s display which has already reduced my screen time by around 60%.
Don’t worry, it’s not deleting all my apps.
…and it’s also not downgrading to a 2003 Nokia without any social media or apps in general.
But what I did do, was turn my phone to black & white mode.
Doing this made using it way less attractive, fun, and rewarding. I’d even go as far as saying my phone is boring me now—so I’m managing to stay off it more.
This experiment has led to an increase in productivity and mental clarity.
It’s only after turning the colours back on for a little, that I realised how addicting the colours on your phone actually are.
🎨 Colours evoke emotions
Did you know that colours can influence your mood and emotions?

They can significantly impact customer perception and decision-making. For example, blue fosters trust (ideal for financial or tech brands.) Red can create a sense of urgency through excitement.
And yellow evokes creativity and optimism.
As an entrepreneur, you could leverage colour psychology in your branding and workspace to influence emotions and potentially drive productivity & success.
Now I’m continuing this experiment and I’ll let you know how this goes—if I will stick to it and my final thoughts.
Sidenote, I do sometimes turn the colours back on to check out the mages that people have sent me on WhatsApp.
But just make sure you turn it back to black & white mode when you’re done.
👞 Today’s Action Step(s):
A) Turn your phone into black & white mode.
B) Think about what colour best represents you/your brand. How do they integrate with what your mission is and how can you leverage/market it?

Success is not an option, it’s a requirement. So if that means to cut off distractions by turning your phone into grayscale… you do that.
We’re here to succeed. Not having things look pretty!

It actually takes a lot of EQ and IQ to understand how people with a low IQ function.
