The day my eyes opened to reality

March 14th, 2023 - My life changed forever.

With my stomach turning, I entered a Google Meet with (about to be) my first-ever client. I came in expecting to charge $500/mo for my services.

But boy was I humbled...

On the call, this client asked about my pricing, "$300/month." I insecurely mutteredā€”yes! I was so afraid that I couldn't even say the actual amount I wanted.

"Look, I can tell you're eager and honestly, I'm not even looking to hire for this position... But I'll let you join the team and learn for free, like an apprenticeship if you'd like."

I agreed to join the team without being paid. "Who am I to ask for such an insane amount?!" I asked myself. After all, I had no experience! But that was soon to change...

Because since that Google Meet, I:

  • Generated over $350,000+ in sales

  • Got flown out to Manchester to lock in

  • Won a national championship in basketball (sidequest)

And last but not least: Opened my eyes and saw what the world truly is - abundant.

I would have never been able to attain the knowledge I possess at such a fast pace if I were to let my ego decide and not take the deal.

From this journey, Iā€™ve discovered a strong principleā€”Learn before you Earn.

It wasnā€™t my time to get paid yet, it was the time to absorb as much knowledge as I couldā€¦ so I did!

This mightā€™ve been a cheat code, but Iā€™m not mad about it.

And guess what? If an opportunity like this arises againā€”Iā€™m taking it, regardless if Iā€™m getting paid or not.

šŸ‘ž Todayā€™s Action Step:

Seek out an opportunity to learn and grow, even if unpaid, by reaching out to people you look up to and offering value in exchange for mentorship.

Work to learn, not to earn. The skills you acquire will make you far more valuable than any paycheck ever could.

Itā€™s not all about the money you earn, just look at me. I worked for free, but still got the better end of the stick.

The knowledge, skills, experiences, and insights Iā€™ve received from this endeavour are invaluable. You canā€™t buy it anywhere.
